Aletra

Aletra Chaney-Profit is the daughter of the late Pastor David Chaney and Mrs. Armelia Chaney.  Aletra attended Wichita public schools and graduated from Wichita Heights High School.  Upon graduation, she attended Benedict College where she became active with the Benedict College Gospel Choir.  Aletra also became an ambassador for the school serving as Miss Benedict College.  It was during her years at Benedict that she realized how much she enjoyed directing and working with choirs.

Aletra has also been blessed to work with some of her favorite artists in gospel music such as the late Oland’a Draper, the late James Moore, Kim Burrell, Norman Hutchins, Kurt Carr and others.  She also served as a backup singer for Tyler Perry’s live stage play “I Can Do Bad All By Myself” when it toured in her hometown.  Her greatest musical influence was her beloved brother, the late Minister Dirk Chaney.

Aletra does not profess to be anything more than an ordinary servant.  She deems it an honor to keep the legacy of her late brother going, and hopes to record an album with the Dirk Chaney Memorial Workshop Choir in the near future.

During her spare time, Aletra enjoys spending time with her husband, Cameo, and their six children: Jay, Dirk, Chaney, Jaren, Dominique, and CJ.  Aletra says she tries to live her life in a way that’s described in Matthew 5:16--“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
